Scrapbook: Texas Roadtrip

If you were to look at the photo folder on my computer, you'd see a main folder named 'USA', a sub-folder named 'Texas' and a further sub-folder called simply 'From the car'... it contains far more than these, partly because we did a fair bit of driving around Texas, and if I wanted to take pictures of some of the things that interested me, a quick snap from a moving vehicle was the only way to do it, but also because the space forms so much of my picture and impression of the place. Coming from Australia, of course I'm used to space, and wide-open horizons, but this was something else again... I felt flat, almost cowering, against the earth, while the land stretched out impossibly wide around me, and the sky towered infinitely high above.

Go down to the woods today

...the woods in Hackney churchyard! Hard to believe I know, but this is where the crocuses were blooming a few short weeks ago. Lovely to think we have such a 'pretty-ish kind of little wilderness' so close by.
